Central Dust Collection Systems
A dust collection system is similar to a central air conditioning system. It is fixed in one place and is connected to the different working tools via ductwork. If you are required to buy more ten individual dust collector, a central system will generally prove cheaper to set up and to maintain. Imagine having to change more than ten filters as opposed to changing one large filter. The power consumption for a large one is way cheaper than 10 small ones too. You, of course, lose on the flexibility side. A central system is a fixed system. Any alteration on machines, it will have to be re-designed.

If you have a small space, go for a dust collector with 1HP. If your space is equivalent to that of two-car garage, move up to 3HP. For small professional shops, 5HP is advisable for adequate dust collection.

2. Look for a flexible hose. For example, black polyethylene minimizes static pressure while clear, wire reinforced hose makes clogs easy to spot.
3. If you need to separate pieces of flexible hose, PVC hose because it produces less static pressure loss.
4. Prefer a universal port for tools with no direct dust collection port.
5. Keyed hose clamps will make moving dust collector machine quick and easy.
6. Avoid fire hazards by grounding your system’s ductwork with dust grounding kit.
